Donegal-born Helen is a retired primary school teacher and is recognised as an expert in folklore, genealogy and local history in Co Donegal. A published author, she is currently president of the Donegal Historical Society and a contributor to local TV and radio news.
Almost 4,000 students will graduate from NUI Galway during the Autumn conferring ceremonies which are currently underway in the city.
