Inishowen school principal to run for Sinn Féin 04.11.13

SINN Féin in Inishowen have selected their candidates to contest the local elections around the peninsula next May.
At a packed convention in Buncrana, sitting councillors Jack Murray and Ciaran McLaughlin along with Carndonagh school principal and former Independent FF councillor, Albert Doherty, were selected to go before the electorate for the party.
Deputy Pádraig MacLochlainn said described the candidates as "a strong panel" and said the party believed it could win three seats on Donegal County Council.
"In the 2011 general election, our party took almost 30% of the vote in Inishowen and Martin McGuinness took over 30 per cent of the vote in the presidential election last year so we know that we have the potential with a strong campaign to win all three seats," said Deputy MacLochlainn.

The convention was addressed by Deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness MLA and the Sinn Féin candidate in the European Parliament elections, Cllr Matt Carthy from Monaghan.
Deputy MacLochlainn said Sinn Féin was determined to to give voters "a real alternative to the failed austerity policies of Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and Labour in Inishowen".
"Those failed policies have resulted in the doubling of unemployment and mass emigration from our communities. They have resulted in our families paying more taxes for less public services," he added.
