Gold medal haul for local judo fighters 09.03.14

INISHOWEN'S Samurai Uladh Judo Club is celebrating an incredible gold medal haul from two major competitions.
The Burnfoot-based club had fighters compete in both the recent All-Ireland Judo Championships and the third level colleges' Irish Intervarsities Judo Championships 2014.
Pictured are Moville Community College deputy principal Eamonn Ryan congratulating students Chloe Moir, centre, and Samantha Weir on their medal haul from the recent All-Ireland Judo Championships in Kilkenny. Chloe won a bronze medal in the Cadet (U-18yrs) Girls U-57kg category, while Samantha won an incredible three gold medals in the Cadet Girls, Junior girls (U-20yrs) and Senior Women's U-70kg categories.
Meanwhile, North West Regional College students Kathleen McNaught and Micheal McCay display their medals from their respective intervarsities clashes.Kathleen from Moville won gold in the Ladies U-63kg category, while Inch native Micheal won gold in the Men's U-66kg category. Both won four consecutive fights to claim gold. Kathleen defeated Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games athlete Kirsty Kee from Queen's University Belfast in her semi-final before going on to defeat German Bundesliga fighter Anni Zienterra from UCD in the final. Micheal breezed through to his final before winning a tight contest for gold against fellow Irish international player Eddie McLoughlin from UCD.
