Couple limber up for World Vision 21.10.10

AINE Harkin from Inishowen and her fiancée Jeremy Stanley, are getting ready to run the Dublin Marathon this bank holiday Monday.
“We're engaged to be married next September and I reckon running a marathon as a couple is a great achievement to share together,” says Aine.
The couple, who met while Aine was working in the Ulster Hospital in Belfast, have been training hard for the past seven months. “I don’t think I’d have got through the training if it wasn’t for Jeremy. It made such a difference to have company on the long runs. We were able motivate each other as we both knew how the other was feeling.”
“It’s our first marathon.” says Jeremy. “The training has been quite tough but I’ve never felt fitter in my life. It’s a great feeling.”
The couple, who now live in Dublin, are fundraising for World Vision Ireland, a child focused aid agency working to overcome poverty and injustice in the developing world. The charity works with children and local communities in Africa supporting water, food, education and health projects.
“It’s such a worthy cause. I really believe in it and the work they do makes such a difference to the lives of so many needy children. I’d really appreciate any support people could give,” added Aine.

Over 8,000 Irish people took part in the Dublin Marathon last year, raising more than €10 million for Irish charities. The gruelling 26.2 mile race starts at Fitzwilliam Square and finishes at Merrion Square in the city centre.
