Craigtown vies for €10,000 05.03.10

CRAIGTOWN National School in Carndonagh is vying for a €10,000 Better Ireland Award from AIB bank. Moville's AIB branch will divide €10,000 between three shortlisted projects with first place receiving €5,000, second place €3,000 and third place €2,000. There are just 10 days left to vote.
If you would like to give Craigtown your vote simply text MOVILLE B to 51303 (standard SMS rates apply) or vote online at www.betterireland.ie . The award is part of AIB’s Better Ireland Programme which supports children with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities. The programme also supports children with terminal illness and those affected by drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness or a lack of access to mainstream education due to poverty.
Craigtown NS., is a rural mixed school on the outskirts of Carn with 78 students on its roll-book. The school’s popularity with the local community is seen in the increasing numbers of students attending in the last number of years.
Pupil numbers are projected to increase yet again in September 2010 and could do with the financial boost a Better Ireland cheque would bring. Principal Gerard O’Kane is asking the local and wider Inishowen community to get behind the school’s fundraising effort to provide much needed resources for the school.
The school recently started a music programme based on a number of instruments with emphasis on tin whistle under the guidance of local musician, Keenan Barrett. Remember your votes are needed before March 15. A reminder how to vote: MOVILLE B to 51303 (standard SMS rates apply) or vote online at www.betterireland.ie .
