Lager louts litter Moville playground 15.04.10

by Linda McGrory

DOZENS of empty beer bottles are being removed from Moville's seaside playground every week, according to angry community activists.
They say the empty bottles are not only an ugly sight for visitors to the seaside town but also pose a real danger to children.
Moville Tidy Towns members Cllr Mickey Doherty and John Putt say they're fed up with the ongoing problem. They fear a child will get badly hurt on a broken bottle while tourists will leave with a poor impression of the town.
"I'm removing dozens of beer bottles from the playground on an ongoing basis. It's just not on," said pensioner John.
John and the tidy towns team removed more than 15 empty beer bottles from the seaside playpark during the big clean-up in the town last Saturday as part of the National Spring Clean 2010. The problem was just as bad the following day, said Cllr Doherty.
He said the sight of beer bottles strewn on the playground floor, swings and swirl seats would be much worse if it wasn't for John's early-bird clean-ups.
"It has really gone beyond all control at this stage," said Cllr Doherty. "At the next electoral area meeting of Donegal County Council I intend to table a
