School poses sunflower challenge 13.09.10

JORDAN McLaughlin from St Aengus N.S., Bridgend, is stunned by the school's super-tall sunflower. The lofty flower was grown by Jordan's class in the school garden last year. The class estimate that it's at least eight feet tall because their teacher, Orla Monaghan is nearly 6ft tall and the sunflower is at least two feet taller than her.
The class plan to measure the flower accurately when the bloom starts to fail and they can cut it down.
Fourth class have now set a challenge and would like to know if any other school has grown a taller sunflower.
