Traveller-settled faces on show 12.10.10

PORTRAITS of Traveller and settled women are to go on show for two months in Letterkenny as part of the National Travellers Retrospective.
The 'In Your Face' exhibition is a photo montage of women's portraits - half of whom are Traveller, the other half settled.
"It is a great privilege to have a national Traveller exhibition held in Donegal, showcasing all the wonderful artwork that has been produced by Travellers throughout the country in recent years," said Annemarie Keogh of the Donegal
Travellers Project (DTP). The exhibition of artwork has been created by Travellers from all over Ireland during the past 25 years and features a wide range of Traveller art, including paintings, photography, sculpture, DVDs and traditional tin-smithing. The exhibition is being presented by Blue Drum, a specialist support agency working with the Irish community development sector in partnership with the Donegal Travellers Project and Donegal County Council.
The exhibition will be officially opened at the Regional Cultural Centre, Port Road, Letterkenny on Tuesday, October 19 at 6 pm to which everyone is welcome. The exhibitionwill then run until Friday, December 17, with opening hours as follows: Tuesdays to Fridays from 11am to 5 pm and Saturdays from 1pm to 5pm.
