Quarterdeck comeback for Earagail 08.06.09

DONEGAL'S Earagail Arts Festival has come of age and celebrates its 21st birthday this year with 100 events in 36 locations all over the county including Inishowen.
The iconic festival was founded 21 years ago with 20 events in just seven different locations.
It has since gone from strength to strength and has expanded throughout the county thanks to great artists and ever-growing crowds.
The official launch of the July festival took place in Letterkenny recently with music by Inishowen's Henry Girls.
This year, the organisers bring the festival to the streets with a major summer carnival parade through Letterkenny created by the Inishowen Carnival Group. The parade will be led by the New Orleans Hot 8 Brass Band and will culminate in Ladder 13’s Village Fête at Letterkenny Town Park.

Internationally renowned artists including Mary Black, Waterson Carthy and Bassekou Kouyate will grace the 2009 programme while it will also showcase Donegal’s own rich cultural and artistic heritage with performances by Quarterdeck and The Stunning. From Inishowen to Falcarragh, works by Hungarian and Irish modernists will compliment new exhibitions by a variety of local, national and international visual artists. And the festival organisers have expanded the literary programme this year too hosting two very special literary days of workshops and readings in the fantastic surroundings of Glenveagh Castle and Rathmullan House.
To account for the country's changed circumstances and to allow festival revellers to enjoy as much of the programme as possible, ticket prices have been maintained at rates lower than the national average across a range of shows from Culdaff to Letterkenny and Dungloe. The festival runs from July 4 - July 19. For more visit www.eaf.ie .
