But Keara and Diana don’t make World Championships

INISHOWEN'S two finalists in the National Karaoke competition may not have made it through to the World Championships in Finland in the autumn, but they sang their hearts out and made a big impression on the their supporters at the Irish decider, held at the Red Cow Inn, Dublin on Saturday afternoon.
Malin woman Keara Kelly and Buncrana’s Diana Glenn did Inishowen proud, but were beaten out by a Dubliner whose rendition of the Beyonce song ‘If I Were A Boy,’ seriously impressed the two women.
Both singers reprised their numbers from last month’s Donegal final in Letterkenny with Keara singing the Cher track Walking in Memphis for the judges.

I was drawn to go in the second group and although there was a long wait and a big crowd in the building, I wasn’t that nervous really because I had my mum, Bernie, with me.”
When the final result was announced, Keara wasn’t too disappointed.
“This has definitely given me
the appetite for more karaoke,” she said.
Meanwhile, fellow Irish finalist Diana Glenn said she was really happy with her performance.
“The woman that won, she was from Dublin, was just fantastic and deserved to get through, but I had a great time too and sang as well as I could have,” said the Buncrana mother, who was supported by her boyfriend and a nine other supporters.
“It wasn’t really like the X Factor. Because there were so many of us singing the judges didn’t give have the time to give a personal verdict on anyone, but they did say when they heard a song they liked,” added Diana, who went with the same song performed at the Donegal Karaoke finals two weeks ago, Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.
Diana says her experience in the National Karaoke finals has whetted her appetite to take part in more singing competitions in the future.
Both woman have regular fixtures at karaoke competitions in Donegal for a number of years.
