Bumper festival weekend for Inishowen 27.06.07

There's no excuse for saying you've nothing to do in Inishowen this weekend with a bumper tally of festivals and events around the peninsula.
Take your pick from an array of music, maritime and cultural events on sea and on land from Malin to Greencastle, Carrowmenagh to Inch Island.
Face painting...part of the festival fun. Bit of a culture vulture? Then soar down to the the 10th McGlinchey Summer School which kicks off this Friday with a trip on the Lough Swilly ferry from Buncrana to Rathmullan to commemorate the Flight of the Earls. The official opening of the weekend festival then takes place at 7.30pm that evening in Clonmany
Clonmany Community Centre with a great programme of events throughout the weekend.
Fancy yourself an eco-friendly sort? Why not leave your carbon-light footprints down at Inishowen Summer Gathering, on Inch Island on Saturday and Sunday. This promises to be a wonderful family-friendly event for everyone who cares about the health of the earth. From aromatherapy to weaving, organic food stalls and music around the campfire, this, the third gathering, is shaping up to be the best yet.
Feeling a little 'like a rolling stone' - why not try the first ever DylanFest on the Lough in Moville with three fantastic Dylan-themed days and nights of music and entertainment in the Foyleside town. And when you're winding down on the Sunday, there's the annual Vintage Car Rally in Moville/Greencastle to enjoy. The Vintage Car Rally takes place on Sunday in Moville.
And where would you be without the good old egg and spoon race, penalty kicks, raffles and bouncy castle? This and much, much more will be on offer at the ever-popular Carrowmenagh Sports Day on Sunday, kicking off at 2.30pm.
The same day, the kids of Scoil Treasa Naofa, Malin, and their parents will enjoy a Fun Day in the GAA Centre, Malin, on Sunday from 3pm to 5pm.
There will be lots of family fun with bouncy castles, lucky dip, raffles, crazy golf, penalty shoot and lots more. Meanwhile, Friday in the Inishowen Maritime Museum, Greencastle, will see the official launch of the Foyle Punt Association, which is reviving interest in the native Foyle Class Punt boat. The evening will double as a drive for members and takes place from 7pm to 9pm. All welcome.
