election as an independent candidate "on one issue,
health".
"I am going forward as a totally independent
candidate on one issue, health, to fight for all the
people of the county and from my own point, with
special emphasis on the oncology services, the
Donegal Hospice and for the protection and
preservation of health services at Letterkenny
General Hospital," she said.
Ms Holmes lives in Newtowncunningham and has been
campaigning for the preservation of cancer care
services in Co Donegal for much of the past decade. |

"If I can get only one
term in Dáil Eireann, I will work as hard as humanly
possible, like I always do, on a daily basis, to
make sure that the people of Donegal regain their
voice," said Ms Holmes.
"From my own personal experience in promoting health
issues, I know that the issues of health are vital,
regardless of the economic situation or the IMF.
Like the old saying says "our health is our wealth".
"We need to ensure that the health and services of
the people of Donegal are put back on the national
agenda." |
