Search for Donegal Person 2011

THE search is on to
find the Donegal Person of the Year 2011 as
playwright Brian Friel's term comes to a close.
Donegal Association PRO, Liam McDermott today said:
"We wish to congratulate Brian for the dignity and
regard he showed on receiving this prestigious
award. He was indeed a worthy recipient and who will
forget the wonderful night that we all enjoyed in
the Burlington Hotel on that night? Nominations are
now being sought to replace the incumbent. |

Nominees must have a
close link with Donegal and be a person who has
"brought honour to Donegal on a local, national or
international level". Previous recipients include
Packie Bonnar; Sean McGinley; Paddy Harte; Margo
O’Donnell and Joe Mulholland. Any person or group
may nominate a candidate. Closing date for
nominations is Wednesday, November 30, 2011 and the
formal announcement will be held in The Harcourt
Hotel, Harcourt Street, on January 17, 2012.
