BURT singing sensation Brian Sheerin is trying to
shake off a head cold ahead of his crucial
performance this Sunday on the 'All-Ireland Talent
Show'.
The 21-year old has been "taking the healthy option"
trying to get better for his appearance in the
show's semi-finals.
"I've a head cold so I've been taking the healthy
option all week trying to shake it off. I had a sore
throat too but that's away now," said Brian
yesterday.
He said he was taking honey, hot drinks and using
Olbas oil to try and clear up the symptoms.
"I'm trying to rest as much as I can and I've been
resting my voice a bit too," he added.
The softly-spoken Inishowen man, who is mentored on
the show by Dana, said he was looking forward to his
weekend performance. He is the only Northern
representative left in the competition and will
compete against four other acts this weekend. The
remaining five acts will perform the following week.
While Brian wowed audiences last time with a
stunning rendition of Scottish folk classic 'Calendonia',
he has opted for something more modern this time. |
"I'll be singing 'Iris'
by the Goo Goo Dolls. When I tell people they don't
seem to know what song it is, but everyone will know
it when they hear it," he said.
"I was pulling my hair out trying to pick a song and
my friend Daragh Grant texted me to suggest 'Iris'.
I knew the song too and I liked it but I'll be doing
my own version of it." Despite the setback of a bad
cold, Brian is looking forward to the show. |

"I'm excited now and I
just can't wait to get down there. Once I get down
on Friday it will start sinking in again."
The local man said he was getting "fantastic" local
support as he vies for the €50,000 top prize. While
three-year old son Jack is his number one fan, Brian
is also getting a great reaction from people
locally. He visited his old schools, St Aengus N.S.,
in Bridgend and Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana, after his
last performance and he is visiting Crana College,
Buncrana, today in a bid to garner plenty of votes.
"I'm practising away despite the head cold, so
fingers crossed it will be away by Sunday," he
added. To see the affable Burt man over the line,
tune in to the 'All-Ireland Talent Show' this Sunday
on RTE 1 at 6.30pm. |
