Domestic abuse group thanks Gardai
16.03.11
A NUMBER of Gardai in
Inishowen have undertaken training with a local
women's group to help them work better together on
domestic abuse cases.
Certificates have been presented by Inishowen
Women's Outreach (IWO) to Gardai who participated in
the programme.
"This programme permits a better understanding for
both IWO and the Gardai on how they can work better
together ensuring the safety and wellbeing for women
and children who are experiencing domestic abuse,"
said IWO manager, Mary Doherty. |

"We would like to thank
Superintendent Kevin English and Inspector David
Kelly and all who participated, for their support
and encouragement for this programme."
The IWO programme is ongoing with service providers
throughout Inishowen.
"It has been very successful in the number of
referrals received from the relevant service
providers to IWO over the last year," added Mary.
"IWO is working hard on the challenges ahead and
towards a positive outcome. This could not be
possible without the input and the support of the
community at large. "Their support has been
invaluable to ensuring the continued professional
community approach service for the women and
children of Inishowen." |
