A man in his late
twenties was lucky to escape with his life this week
after his car smashed through a telegraph pole
before careering 20 feet down an embankment onto the
water’s edge at Fahan.
The Derry driver, who was on his way home from work
in Buncrana, miraculously walked away from the
incident with only minor cuts and bruises while his
northern-registered blue BMW vehicle was completely
wrecked.
Gardai who were quick on the scene said the driver
skidded on oil on the road surface on the final bend
out of Fahan travelling towards Derry. The vehicle
crossed onto the wrong side of the road and crashed
through a ditch some 200 yards on the Buncrana side
of Bradley’s filling station.
No other vehicle was involved in the incident, which
occurred just after 7am on Wednesday morning.
It is understood the driver was later admitted to
Altnagelvin Hospital. Anyone with information is
asked to contact Buncrana Garda Station on
0749320540. (Inishowen
