Leo revives old-style auction
12.01.11
AN Inishowen auctioneer
is taking a step back in time to offer people the
chance to make some much-needed cash at an old-style
auction.
Long-standing estate agent Leo McCauley said people
were looking to raise extra money in the recession
while many attics and spare rooms were filled to
capacity with unwanted items. |
"During the boom people
bought a lot of stuff for their homes so there is
quite a lot of good-quality furniture, household
goods, tools, art, garden furniture and other items
lying around. We're giving people an outlet to turn
these items into hard cash."
Leo is a third generation auctioneer and estate
agent and has extensive knowledge of buying and
selling. His late father, James, and grandfather,
Denis, ran auctions periodically down through the
years.
Dad-of-five, Leo, wants to give people the chance to

traditional auction
while making themselves some extra euro at the same
time. Buyers can go along and enjoy the thrill of
picking up a bargain.
"Auctions were a way of life for generations gone by
and whether you're a seller or a buyer, it should be
a great day out for everyone."
Expressions of interest are currently being sought
with a view to compiling a comprehensive catalogue
of lots. The first auction is on Saturday, February
26th at 12 noon.
Sellers will be required to pay an upfront fee of €5
per sale item. Anyone wishing to sell an item or
items should get in touch with McCauley Properties
as soon as possible. Please email details of items
with a description (and jpeg photo if possible) to
info@mccauleyproperties.com . You can also call
