A free pilot project
for unemployed people is being run in Inishowen in
March. The course will run at the Public Services
Centre in Carndonagh and is open to all people who
are unemployed.
“The aim of the course is to support people who are
unemployed in the Inishowen area, to provide
information, to promote volunteering as a route back
into employment and to encourage the development of
an informal support network for course
participants,” said Donegal County Council good
relations officer, Sarah Thompson.
“We will be inviting a range of different
organisations to come and talk about what they do
and to share information and ideas that will help
people looking for work to think more widely about
the options available to them," added course
co-ordinator, Kate Wilkinson, Course Co-ordinator.
“It is challenging to be out of work at the moment
and thinking about volunteering for example, as a
way back into work, is one of the areas we will
cover on the course, along with other things such
short work placements. The course is free and it is
an opportunity to talk about getting back to work in
an informal and supportive way over a cup of
coffee.”
The project is being delivered as part of the CDB
Peace and Reconciliation Partnership’s 'One Donegal'
initiative – Embracing and Celebrating Diversity.
The course will run over three weeks from 11am –
1pm, 2, 10 and 16 March at the Public Services
Centre in Carndonagh. If you are interested in
attending, contact Kate Wilkinson on 086 877 9506 to
