Gospel end-of-season concert 15.06.11

MOVILLE Gospel Choir will hold its end-of-season concert on Friday, June 24 in St Eugene’s Hall at 8pm. In what promises to be an energetic and entertaining musical experience, the choir, under conductor Debbie Kelly and musical director, Frank Fiorentini, will perform favourites from their extensive repertoire.
Previous concerts in Moville have been sell-outs. The choir performs a range of music, from gospel to contemporary, giving the music its own unique stamp.
Since its foundation three years ago at the instigation of Fr Paddy O’Kane, the choir has built up a reputation for high-energy performance and musical excellence. It regularly enthrals the congregation at midday Mass in St Pius X in Moville on Sunday and at venues around Inishowen and Derry.
Moville Gospel Choir.
Between singers and the band, the choir has some 40 members with a wide range of ages and musical backgrounds. Since its formation, the choir has developed into a proficient and practiced musical outfit. Indeed it is a testament to Debbie and Frank’s professionalism and commitment, that news of their retirement from their roles in the choir due to other commitments, was met with dismay by members. They will be sorely missed, and all members feel privileged to have worked with them.
Debbie and Frank will finish out their last season with the choir with the concert on June 24, and a recital at the blessing of the Fleet in Greencastle on August 12.
The choir plans to build on the foundation set by Debbie and Frank, and have begun the difficult process of replacing them by inviting expressions of interest in the position of choir director.
