Brochure lists Donegal conference venues 19.04.11

CONFERENCE venues in Co Donegal are included in a new guide launched by the Derry Visitor and Convention Bureau (DVCB).
The guide showcases the North West as a conference destination and highlights the wealth of resources readily available for hosting successful meetings and conferences in the region.
The 35 page A5 full colour brochure details the conference venues available in Derry and Donegal and the services offered by the DVCB. Funding was provided by Ilex Urban Regeneration Company.
In 2008 business tourism brought over £136 million into the Northern Ireland economy and DVCB sees this section of the industry potentially as a huge economic earner for Derry and its hinterland. Failte Ireland also recognises the tremendous importance of business tourism to the area.

DVCB chief executive Catherine O’Connor said: "I am delighted to launch this guide in partnership with all our providers and of course our funder Ilex.
"The guide is one element of our marketing activities associated with business tourism."
Derry's City of Culture 2013 is expected to act as a catalyst for business tourism grown. Since the title was announced in July 2010, the city has secured a number of high profile conferences and events including Under 19 World Cricket Qualifiers from 2-9 August 2011, the annual conference of the Political Studies Association of Ireland from 19-21 October 2012 and the National Association of Medical Management in September 2012. The city is currently bidding for a number of other events in the coming years.
Ms O'Connor added: "The next few years are pivotal for the Derry tourist industry which means that the marketing of the city must be a priority and our visitor servicing for increasing tourist numbers must be of a high quality.
"We will continue to work in partnership with the many stakeholders that constitute the tourism Industry.’
