THE stand-off at the
childcare centre at Quigley's Point has come to an
end.
Negotiations were facilitated yesterday by Joan
McGarry and Mary Sweeney from Pobal and Avril
Sweeney from Donegal County Childcare with both
Quigley’s Point Community Centre and Children’s
Point Community Childcare.
As a result, both Quigley’s Point Community Centre
and Children’s Point Community Childcare have agreed
to work together in the short term to ensure that
all children are provided with "a safe and secure
preschool experience".
"To this end they have negotiated a temporary
resolution regarding the current situation. The
outcome of these negotiations are subject to a
decision by the Department of Children and Youth
Affairs regarding ECCE and CCS funding," a statement
released yesterday by Donegal County Childcare
Committee said.
Whilst a decision is pending, from Monday, September
12, both services will temporarily operate from the
Quigley’s Point Community Centre under the following
arrangements.
*Children’s Point Community Childcare 10am – 1pm
*Quigley’s Point Community Playgroup 9.30am –
12.30pm
All parents are required to submit their ECCE forms
to the service of their choice by September 9. In
the event of none/only one service being funded,
Donegal County Childcare Committee (DCCC) will
support parents to access ECCE funding schemes in
another approved early childhood service.
Regular updates will be available on the DCCC
