€23K raised in memory of Theodore 11.07.11

CLONMANY couple William and Juanita McGonigle have thanked everyone in Inishowen who helped them raise a whopping €23,000 in memory of their beloved son.
A series of fund-raising events was organised to source money for sick chidren following the death of toddler Theodore McGonigle last October, aged just 22 months.
“Our boisterous boy Theodore was taken from us to a far better place. The pain and grief felt then, and now, is so immense,” said William and Juanita.
“We know that his time in the world may have been brief but Theodore’s memory will never fade. We have made a commitment to recognize the joy he brought into our lives and to create a legacy that will shine as bright as he did,” they added.
To honour their young son, William and Juanita helped establish the Theodore Foundation with a primary aim to raise funds to purchase much-needed medical equipment and facilities for the Children’s Ward of Wexford General Hospital, where Theodore was a patient.
After ‘overwhelming’ support from the Inishowen community, the foundation also donated a defibrillator to the youth club in Clonmany.

“We and our parents Breege and Patrick, brothers Charles, Peter and family, Cloontagh, Clonmany would like to sincerely thank all those who helped and supported the fund raising events for the Theodore Foundation,” they said.
“Particularly those who organised events and took part in activities To all those who helped in any way - thank you for your tremendous generosity both financial and otherwise, it was greatly appreciated.”
“From vintage tractor runs to marathons, tug of war to cake sales, the overwhelming support has enabled preparations to be made for a small garden to be built in the hospital grounds, and ECG machine to be acquired for the ward and specialist resuscatation trolleys to be purchased,” they added.
