GARDAÍ in Buncrana are
appealing for information after a young man was shot
dead in Lisfannon last night.
The victim, Andy Allen (24) suffered fatal injuries
when he was shot through the window of his home at
Links View about 9.20pm.
The father of two, originally from Top of the Hill
in the Waterside, Derry, was pronounced dead at the
scene. His body remains there pending the arrival of
a State Pathologist. A woman in the house at the
time of the shooting was unhurt.
Gardai have sealed off the area for a forensic
examination while a second crime scene has been
cordoned off in Fahan where a car, believed to have
been involved in the incident, was found burnt out.
Buncrana-based TD., Deputy Pádraig MacLochlainn last
night said the community was reeling after the
attack.
“The community in Buncrana is shocked and horrified
that a man has been shot in our town tonight.
“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this
extremely difficult time.”
He also appealed to anyone with any information to
come forward.
"Anyone who was in the Lisfannon area tonight and
may have any information – no matter how small it
may seem – should come forward and contact the
Gardaí immediately.”
