Fancy your own 'nee-naw'?
05.09.12
EVER wanted your very
own fire engine? What about a snow plough or gritter
in case of another Arctic Irish winter? A council
has embarked on a massive sell-off of obsolete
vehicles, redundant machinery and scrap metal in a
bid to create space and raise cash for the local
authority. Donegal County Council’s sale includes
six fire engines, six lorries; six pick-up trucks;
seven vans; one tractor; 10 gritters; three vintage
rollers; snowploughs and various items of scrap
metal. Some vehicles are more than 20 years old and and
include Ford, Scania and Mercedes models. |

A council spokeswoman
said: "The vast majority of machinery and vehicles
for sale are no longer roadworthy, are obsolete and
are being sold for scrap value. The council carried
out a similar exercise around 2004." The tender
process is currently underway and the deadline is
September 21. To view the full machinery yard sale
