Pens at ready for Leaving Cert
06.06.12
SOME 4,300 students in
Co Donegal have begun their Leaving Cert exams this
morning with English paper one. The exam students
include some 400 from Inishowen. Junior Cert
students have also started their State exams.
Local TD., Charlie McConalogue wished the students
luck and issued some advice. “After all the hard
work and preparation, students now have the
opportunity to showcase their abilities and
demonstrate what they have learned over the past
number of years. |
“While it is natural to
be nervous, it is important to remain calm and stay
healthy during the exam period. Avoid the temptation
to engage in late night cramming sessions that can
do more harm than good. Be well rested and well
nourished before each exam. |
|
The fresher you feel,
the more able you will be to tackle difficult
questions."
Deputy McConalogue also urged the candidates to
avoid the pointless exercise of mulling over an exam
once it's finished.
“It is also important to avoid post-mortems after
each exam and to move your focus as quickly as
possible to the next subject. There is nothing to be
gained from dwelling on an exam that is already
over.
“I wish all those sitting the Junior and Leaving
Cert exams across Co Donegal every success over the
next few weeks. I am conscious that it can be a
stressful time for parents too and I am wishing them
all the best as they support their children through
the exam period.” |
