Celebrate water in Moville
08.02.12
'WATER is Life' will be
the sentiment for a unique community conversation
this Saturday in Moville.
The objective of the day will be to explore the
possibility of holding a major celebration of water
event along the Foyle in the summer months. Towards
this aim, public participation is being invited.
It's envisaged that the celebration will include
people of all ages and backgrounds. “All are welcome
- mums, dads, grannies, children, sportspeople,
fisher folk, artists, musicians, knitters,
scientists, teachers, local groups, community
leaders, indeed anyone with an interest. This
proposed event is by-the-people-for-the-people,"
said one of the organisers, Kathleen O'Hara Farren.
She said the idea came from the desire to protect
where we live and to empower people to come together
and really look at what it is that we have and can
be grateful for.
"So much can be done when we come together. It's
about exploring new possibilities, about living in
harmony, about real sustainability in our community. |
It's about being
creative, positive and confident. It's about
recognising the resilience of our community in Inis
Eoghain. Ultimately, it's about Being the Change you
want to see in the world."
Another organiser, Rose Kelly said: "In these times
of so-called 'austerity', when we are all being told
what we don't have, while the powers that be are
busy giving away what we do have, this event seeks
to challenge the mindset of scarcity and
powerlessness and to come instead from a place of
abundance and creativity. |

Let's look at what's
here and who's here and what we can be and do
together."
Trish added: “We see this as a grassroots event and
encourage you to come along to experience the World
Cafe, share a cuppa and a conversation with others
who can make this a fun event for all." The event
will take place this Saturday, February 11, in St
Eugene's Hall, Moville from 2.30pm to 5pm. There
will be musical entertainment, discussion and fun.
All welcome. |
