SEMINARS on student
grants will be held in Buncrana and Clonmany in the
coming weeks. The seminars hosted by the Letterkenny
Youth Information Centre will take place at the
Buncrana Youth Drop-In centre and St Brigid's Youth
Club, Clonmany.
Information and guidance will be available on how to
apply for third level grant assistance for young
people and parents of those completing their Leaving
Certificate as well as mature students.
Youth information officer Martin Keeney urged those
who have not yet applied for a grant to do so
immediately.
“The deadline for applying for the grant is August
31 so if people haven’t already applied now is the
time to do so. We are here to help with any student
grant queries you may have so don’t hesitate to
contact us.”
The grant process has seen significant changes this
year, with all new applications now having to be
completed online. The grant is administered
nationally through Dublin VEC’s Student Universal
Support Ireland (SUSI), meaning Youth Information
Centres will provide vital mentoring support at
local level for those who need help in filling out
the online application.
The Letterkenny Youth Information Centre will also
be running special late evening clinics on Tuesday
evenings from 6pm-8pm throughout July and August for
those who need help in filling in the form. Bookings
for the evening clinics must be made by phone.
The local Inishowen information seminars will take
place in Buncrana on Monday, June 25 and in Clonmany
on July 10. Both start at 7pm. For more information
contact the Youth Information Centre at 9129640. The
office is located at 16-18 Port Road - directly
opposite the Grill. |
