Moville Minors v Malin
Northern Board Division 2 Section 1
18.04.13
Malin travelled to
Carrick Field in Moville on Friday evening for their
Northern Board fixture against Moville minors in a
game that would be a re-run of the pre-season
challenge game that Malin won comfortably at home.
Both teams sit mid-table in the Northern Board
Division 2 Section 1 league with probably neither
capable of reaching the qualifying spot at the top
of the league currently occupied by a Burt team who
won four of their five games. Moville had a squad of
fifteen named but as Malin were short on numbers for
this fixture it would be thirteen a side leaving two
of the Moville starting line-up disappointed. The
home team started brightest putting 7 points on the
scoreboard from Connor Doherty, Ciaran Diver and
Ciaran Moore without reply. Malin got on the
scoreboard for the first time after 22 minutes,
Connor Doherty got another point for the home team
before Malin hit the back of the Moville net for a
goal on the thirtieth minute. Ciaran Moore hit over
the bar again leaving the half-time score Moville
0-09 Malin 1-01 |

Moville needed to avoid
complacency in the second half and Malin came out
after half time firing on all cylinders playing with
the slope and moving the ball around the field very
well. The visiting team scored two goals and a point
with Moville only hitting over the bar once to leave
just a solitary point between the two sides. The
Moville boys finally settled and started playing
some good football, one player from each side was
sent off when things got a bit heated and they each
received a second yellow card, so it was twelve vs
twelve now. Points in the second half came from Tony
McClenaghan, Josh Lafferty who netted a goal as well
as a point, Ronan Doherty, Shane Skelly, Billy
McCann and Pearce Parkinson. Pat Kelly came off the
bench late in the game and netted an excellent goal
to give the home team a convincing win. Final score
Moville 3-16 Malin 4-05. The next game, and indeed
the final game in this section of the Northern Board
Minor League, will take place on Friday 23rd April
at 7pm in Carrick Field, Moville against Red Hughs. |
