Buncrana gets exciting new social
hub
20.05.14
A NEW hub for
businesses, social groups and start-ups will be
officially opened in Buncrana later this month.
The Exchange at Castle Avenue opened its doors last
year bringing a number of local community groups and
social enterprises together under the one umbrella.
The non-profit company behind it, Exchange Inishowen
Ltd., identified the old social welfare exchange as
a suitable building for their needs and set about
converting it into a community and enterprise hub. |

LEADER funding and
financial support from the local authorities was
secured and upgrade works began last summer.
The Exchange has been providing services and
facilities to a wide variety of groups for a number
of months.
"The management committee has decided to host an
official opening...to say thank you to all those who
supported us in bringing The Exchange to where it is
today and to showcase our state of the art
facilities to the people of Inishowen," said a
spokesperson.
"The official opening will be followed by an open
day with music and refreshments where everyone will
be able to tour the building, hear from those who
have used it recently, and see the services we have
to offer.
"The management committee will also be on hand to
answer any questions and give information to
entrepreneurs, businesses, community activists and
others about rents, collaborations and facility
use." The Exchange will be officially opened on
Saturday, May 31 at 2pm and everyone is welcome. |
