Going wild for Inch nature reserve
05.08.14
THERE was a great
turnout for the official opening of the final phase
of a new walkway around Inch Wildfowl Reserve.
The €300,000 project includes an eight-kilometre
nature trail with plenty of information signage,
beautifully constructed bird hides and picnic
benches for great days out. |

birds of prey at the Inch Wildfowl Reserve open day. |
Wildlife enthusiasts
including members of the recently-formed Wild
Inishowen joined locals and council staff from both
sides of the border for the open day. The
regeneration project at the vast site has now been
described as "one of Inishowen’s top attractions". |

During winter months
the reserve is home to several thousand migrant bird
species including the greylag goose and whooper
swan. The site and pathways cater for plenty of
outdoor recreational pursuits including birdwatching,
walking, running and cycling. People can also visit
in the car, park up and experience the breathtaking
views at one of several car parks dotted around the
area. More information at
