Grease is the word for Daniel 06.10.15
GREASE is the word for
Daniel O'Donnell as he gets ready to channel John
Travolta on Strictly Come Dancing's themed movie
special next weekend.
The 53-year old crooner will play 'Grease'
heart-throb Danny Zuko with his trademark 1950s
hair-quiff, while dance partner Kristina Rihanoff
will be love-lorn Sandy Dee.
The Donegal-Russian duo were the first to be voted
through on Sunday's results show after they danced a
cheeky, horseracing-themed Charleston the previous
night.
Daniel even managed to sneak a few jig-time steps
into the high-energy routine.
Meanwhile, he joked that the ominous results-show
music reminded him of shark horror movie 'Jaws' as
the fifteen contestants nervously awaited their
fate.
Irish pro-dancer Tristan MacManus and his celebrity
partner Jamelia faced the first dance-off of the
series against British runner Iwan Thomas and his
pro-partner Ola Jordan.
Ultimately, the judges unanimously agreed to save
Wicklow-born MacManus and Jamelia from elimination.
MacManus afterwards said he was “gutted” for Thomas
and Jordan, tweeting: “Close one! Big thanks for all
the support.” |

Meanwhile, Daniel and
Kristina who received judges’ points of 24 and 23
out of 40, respectively, in their first two weeks,
thanked everyone who picked up the phone or voted
on-line to save them.
The couple continue to be concerned that Daniel’s
fans in Ireland cannot vote for him and are relying
on his UK supporters to get him through.
Daniel's wife Majella (55) tweeted yesterday: “Thank
you to everybody that voted for @KRihanoff and #danielonstrictly.
We are very grateful for the support they are
getting @bbcstrictly."
Breast cancer survivor Majella and her pals have
revealed they're considering dressing up as the Pink
Ladies from 'Grease' in a nod both to her husband’s
next performance and to raise awareness of cancer. |
