Margo declines invite to ‘Dancing
with the Stars’
23.11.16
COUNTRY legend Margo
has revealed she declined an invitation to appear on
RTE’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in the new year.
Margo (65) said she was forced to turn down the
offer to appear on the homespun Strictly spin-off,
for health reasons.
As a result she won’t be following brother Daniel
(54) onto the dance floor after his much-feted
appearance on BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ last
year.
Margo said she feared that the stress of the show
would exacerbate “quite a number” of existing health
problems.
Ms O’Donnell suffered a heart attack after the death
of her beloved mother in 2014. She also has a back
problem and was bedridden with excruciating sciatica
pain last year.
She told fans she was “honoured” to get the
invitation to appear on the prime RTE show but sadly
had to decline. |
“I was honoured to be
asked by RTE to take part in (Strictly) Come Dancing
Irish Style but I declined. Sorry to all of my fans
and friends,” she said via her Facebook page.
“Yes, toooooooo much stress and for health reasons.
I can dance but not on (Strictly). I will stick to
the singing,” she added.
Margo’s invitation follows weekend reports that
veteran newscaster Anne Doyle is due to appear on
the eagerly-awaited entertainment extravaganza - due
to hit screens in early 2017 and hosted by Amanda
Byram. |

There has been no
official confirmation of celebrity participants yet
but contestants are likely to be revealed in a
series of promotional unveilings in the weeks
leading up to the show.
Meanwhile, Margo has been inundated with good wishes
from fans with some telling her she would have been
a great addition to the line-up.
“If Daniel can dance so can you. After all you are
his sister, it's in the genes. But I understand
(due) to health reasons it might be a wee bit
difficult. It's the thought that counts. Would have
loved to see you though!,” wrote one.
“You’re right. A saying here is, it’s nourishment
not punishment you want. Xxx,” added another. |
