Buncrana hurlers seek Ulster Championship glory 25.10.24

BUNCRANA’s Senior Hurlers are gearing up to make history this Saturday, 2nd of November, at O’Donnell Park in Letterkenny as they face Ballela from County Down in the Ulster GAA Hurling Junior Club Championship quarter final at 12:30 pm.

This marks the first time in Buncrana’s 23-year hurling history that a senior team will compete in the Ulster Championship. Though this level is new for Buncrana’s Senior Hurlers, many of these players are no strangers to the big stage. They've been collecting county titles since their U12 days, including every County Championship up to U21, and have celebrated multiple Ulster achievements: two Ulster Club Junior League titles and three Ulster Club Minor B Championships, along with appearances in the A division. Some of the squad members even hold All-Ireland medals earned with Donegal and their colleges.

The team clinched their place in this championship by winning the County Intermediate Championship against Carn, marking Buncrana’s first senior championship title. They’ve been training relentlessly ever since, braving all conditions, in their quest to add another piece of silverware to their 2024 season.
Despite a few injuries, they’re determined to put in their best performance and make their families, club, and county proud. Manager Tommy O’Neill remains focused, taking each game as it comes and concentrating fully on Saturday’s challenge. Supporters are encouraged to come out in force to cheer on the team and show their Buncrana pride.

Additionally, Buncrana extended their best wishes to Burt as they embark on their campaign in the Ulster GAA Intermediate Club Championship on Sunday, November 3rd, in Newry.
