Inishowen Science Week 2024 07.11.24

THE public are being urged to join the fun next week at Science Week 2024 in Inishowen. The aim is to encourage school children to engage with science in a fun and interactive way, and to promote the importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) to everyday life.

Events being held at your local library include:

• Lego Club - Wednesday 13th november, 3pm to 5pm

Science Week 2024 will explore the theme of regeneration. From developing new solutions for health and healing, to developing new ways of understanding our world, it is time to reimagine our approaches and grow our shared strengths.

Belinda Glackin, Science Week Coordinator for Donegal Library Service, said: “Through our events, we hope to draw children’s attention to the important ideas about what scientists do by delivering experiences that stimulate a child’s natural curiosity and inquisitiveness.”

Join the first Gríosadh Science Festival and immerse yourself in the wonders of science in Inishowen. Venues include Carndonagh, Buncrana and Greencastle.

Gríosadh includes a packed line-up of workshops, experiments, demonstrations, talks, and tours across the Peninsula, the week long festival will showcase how science and technology are driving growth and sustainability across farming, fishing, building, and textiles. With contributions from leading engineers, scientists, textile makers, and academics, this festival offers a chance to wonder at how innovation is tackling challenges and unlocking possibilities in rural communities.
