DONEGAL County Council
welcomes the announcement by the Minister for Climate,
Energy and the Environment, Darragh OBrien TD, of
approved funding under the Community Climate Action
Programme Fund, with an increased allocation of 793,100
for County Donegal.
The funding will support 25 successful community groups
across the county in delivering a range of capital
projects aimed at addressing the challenges of climate
change. The Community Climate Action Programme is
designed to empower communities to take meaningful local
action while contributing to the delivery of the
five-year Climate Action Plan for County Donegal.
Applications granted funding in Inishowen include:
Carndonagh Traders Assn - Water Refill Station, Bike
Stand - 7,000.00
Inishowen Rugby Club - Solar PV System with battery -
17,000.00
Ceolan Community Group - Solar PV System with battery
- 15,000.00
Barrack Hill Town Park - Wetland planting, Birdhide -
4,000.00
Wild Inishowen - Native tree and Fruit Trees -
5,000.00
Spraoi agus Sport - Solar PV, LED Lighting Upgrade,
Insulation, Windows & Doors, Bike Rack, Community
Kitchen, Water Refill Station - 75,000.00 |

The funded projects will
focus on five key themes:
Community Energy
Travel
Food and Waste
Shopping and Recycling
Local Climate and Environmental Action
This investment will enable community organisations to
implement small, medium and large-scale initiatives that
enhance sustainability, reduce carbon emissions and
promote climate resilience at a local level.
Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Cllr. Paul
Canning, welcomed the funding announcement: I am
delighted to see this significant investment of 793,100
in community-led climate action initiatives across
County Donegal. This funding recognises the commitment
and innovation of our local groups in tackling climate
change at grassroots level.
