VETERAN Buncrana
solicitor Paudge Dorrian is considering being best
man at the wedding of his client Patsy Brogan who
was acquitted of running an unlicensed bar at the
infamous 'Bog Hotel'.
Mr Dorrian successfully argued at Donegal District
Court that there was nothing illegal about Mr
Brogan's bar in the Bluestack Mountains.
After the charges against him were dismissed last
week, Mr Brogan declared he would marry his 29-year
old girlfriend, Daria Weiske, who is 43 years his
junior. He has now asked the Buncrana lawyer to
stand by his side when he says 'I do'.
"Patsy asked me as soon as the judge gave his
verdict if I would be best man at his wedding. Those
were his first words," Mr Dorrian told the Sunday
Independent.
"I didn't get a chance to consider at the time
because I was involved in the next case. But if he's
going to marry, why not be his best man? I've been
effectively that as his solicitor in the Bog Hotel
case."
Ms Weiske is considering an Easter Monday wedding in
her native Poland but Mr Brogan has also revealed
the couple have had an offer of a free wedding from
a Donegal hotel.
According to the newspaper, one hotelier told him:
"You can have (the wedding) for free. You are the
best thing to happen to Donegal publicity-wise for a
long time."
Meanwhile, Mr Brogan has also revealed he plans to
expand his private bar with views out over the
mountain bog. During his trial, Mr Brogan insisted
the infamous bar was for his private use only and,
while he welcomed visitors, he did not charge for
alcohol. |
