Road safety measures for Burnfoot
08.06.10
A FINE Gael and Sinn
Féin councillor have joined forces in securing
funding for a range of road safety measures in
Burnfoot.
Cllrs John Ryan and Pádraig MacLochlainn said the
safety measures, to be delivered later this year,
include four separate traffic islands and
improvements to footpaths, signage, road markings
and lighting in the village. |
In a joint statement,
the Inishowen councillors said: “We have both raised
this issue repeatedly with the council engineers
over recent times. Local people in Burnfoot,
particularly children and the elderly, face a
dangerous journey to local shops and services due to
the high volumes of traffic passing through the
village.
“Often pedestrian safety is overlooked when finances
are allocated to roads and |
|
Burnfoot has waited too
long for measures like these we have now secured.
We would like to thank the council engineers and
their colleagues in road design for addressing our
concerns with a comprehensive set of measures and
our councillor colleagues for supporting our
endeavours.” |
