'Donegal backs High Court bid'
21.10.10
DONEGAL Senator Pearse
Doherty said people in the county have supported his
High Court bid for a bye-election.
Speaking as he left the High Court following the
second day of his legal challenge for the Donegal
South West bye-election, he said he received an
"overwhelming" level of support.
“Over the past two days I have argued on behalf of
the people of Donegal South West that this
Government is acting unconstitutionally. They are
withholding our right to go to the polls and make a
judgement on this Government in the Donegal South
West by election. |
|
“I am pleased that my
arguments have been fully heard, and I look forward
to the President of the High Court, Nicholas Kearns’
written judgement on the morning of November 5."
The Sinn Féin senator added:“It’s clear from the
overwhelming number of messages of support and good
wishes which I have received over the past few days
that the public feel ownership of this case and are
hoping for a positive outcome as well.
“Unfortunately, this Government pays little respect
to that public sentiment or demand for rightful
representation by arrogantly suggesting it leave the
people of Donegal South West unrepresented for at

another six months. I
hope the right decision is made.” |
