OPW looks at seven Carn properties 26.05.10

THE Office of Public Works have recently inspected seven properties including sites and buildings in search of a suitable location for a new Garda station for Carn.
Senator Cecilia Keaveney has been told that a number of the sites "have some potential.
"Minister Martin Mansergh has told me that there are seven locations that have undergone inspection and assessment for suitability in the context of providing a new Garda station at Carndonagh," she said.
The old Garda Station in Carndonagh. "The outcome of that process is that they have a number of sites that have some potential to meet the needs of An Garda Siochana. The Minister is to have his officials pursue these prospects further."
The locally-based Donegal senator said she did not intend letting the controversial issue go.
"I am disappointed that the Garda Representative Association has not taken the time or opportunity to respond to me as to their stance in supporting the acquisition of a permanent solution for the Carn Gardai.
"Having handed a letter to PJ Stone when he came before a group of national politicians in Leinster House weeks ago I did expect that he would supply an answer to that letter. I do leave the post box as free as I can for any response the Association may still make.
"It is important, actually vital, that everyone has the same goal and enthusiasm for a permanent solution as it will be the Gardai that set the priorities for the OPW" she warned.
