'White Wall' becomes art gallery
18.05.10
A UNIQUE open air
public art exhibition will be held this Friday when
25 large charcoal drawings by local schoolchildren
go on display at the landmark 'White Wall' in
Moville Green.
The exhibition, 'Dynamic Drawings Day', has been
created by children from the five local national
schools in Moville, Greencastle and Whitecastle.
The programme was designed and facilitated by
professional artist Mhairi Sutherland, assisted by
Audrey Crawford, in a series of workshops funded
last February by Moville and District Family
Resource Centre.
The workshops explored the use of charcoal as the
original drawing tool of burnt wood and as a simple,
ecological arts material. |

The children
experimented with sticks of charcoal and drawing
techniques while being encouraged to compose and
create a series of ‘maps’ and interpretations of the
area.
These included not just local landmarks and
features, but the children's own ideas of what would
be exciting improvements for young people in the
area.
'Dynamics Drawings Day' is the work of pupils from
Scoil Naomh Fionan, Whitecastle, St Columb’s N.S,
Moville, Gaelscoil Cois Feabhail, Bun an Phobail,
Scoil Eoghain, Moville and Scoil Cholmcille,
Greencastle.
It will be held this Friday, May 21, from 12 midday
until 1.30pm. Everyone is welcome. |
