Moville tunes up for biggest DylanFest 25.06.10

by Caoimhinn Barr, Inishowen Independent

ITALIAN star Al Diesan and his guitarist Pino Tocco will headline this year's DylanFest on the Lough, which is set to attract hundreds of visitors to Moville.
Last year the European duo made a pilgrimage to Greenwich Village NY, where Dylan himself used to hang out, and this year their pilgrimage leads them to one of the world’s only Dylan festivals - in Moville.
Local musician and Bob Dylan expert Paddy McLaughlin said “Al Diesan is as good a Dylan act as I've seen. You can tell the people of Inishowen that they are in for a real treat."
This year’s DylanFest is no longer 'Stuck Inside of Moville' with the news that a pre-opening night event at Mason’s Bar in Derry will officially launch the musical extravaganza on Wednesday night, June 30.
DylanFest, which has attracted thousands of visitors to Moville for the past four years, will feature scores of talented local musicians as well as Laois stars, James and Audrey, and the best young Dylan band from Derry, The Cannibals.
Organiser Gerry McLaughlin said he was delighted to officially launch the 2010 DylanFest in Derry.
“This is great news as far as publicity for the DylanFest in Moville is concerned. I’m not sure how many people knew about it in Derry

before, but they’ll know this year, especially as Mason’s is one of the premiere music locations and they will be publicising not just the gig on the Wednesday night but the whole festival. This year’s event is set to be the biggest ever,” he said.
The Moville festival also boasts the European premiere of ‘Long Time Gone: Words & Music by Bob Dylan’ - which will take place at St. Eugene’s Hall on Friday night, July 2, and Saturday night, July 3.
