70 jobs for Burnfoot 08.06.10

JUST over 70 skilled manufacturing jobs have been pledged for Inishowen following the announcement of a €3.6m research and development investment in a Burnfoot company.
E&I Engineering is a manufacturer of electrical switchgear and distribution products for the building services sector. The group employs 249 people in Ireland and has manufacturing operations in the United Arab Emirates. The investment will be used to diversify the company's product-offering allowing it to address new sectoral markets and expand its geographical market reach.
The promised 71 new jobs will be created at the company's Slab Road headquarters. It is anticipated the jobs will be filled over the next three years. Tánaiste Mary Coughlan said E&I Engineering was an Enterprise Ireland 'scaling client'. Such clients have the potential for rapid and steady growth to quickly achieve international scale.

Meanwhile, Deputy Niall Blaney said the investment was "a vote of confidence in the workforce in Donegal" and would be a significant boost to the area.
“The creation of 71 jobs is very welcome and it is encouraging to see a company like E&I Engineering expanding to this degree.
“The 71 jobs will be created over the next three years, with support from Enterprise Ireland, and the expansion will allow for the diversifying of the company’s product.
“For a company that was only established in 2003 it has achieved significant success and I wish them well with their expansion plans,” added the Fianna Fáil TD.
