DONEGAL Garda bosses
have wished their colleagues well for next week's
charity cycle to remember two slain officers.
The Mizen Head to Malin Head cycle will take place
from next Monday to Saturday to remember Garda Gary
McLoughlin and Garda Robbie McCallion who were
killed in the line of duty in separate incidents
last year.
Proceeds from the event will go to Beaumont Hospital
and Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Dublin, as well
as Letterkenny General Hospital.
Garda Chief Superintendent Terry McGinn said a total
of 45 members from the Donegal Division including
Garda officers and civilian staff would be taking
part in the cycle.
"This event is for three very good causes and is in
memory of two of our colleagues who died unlawfully
in Co Donegal. I would like to wish the cycle every
success and hope everyone gets home again safely,"
said Chief Supt. McGinn.
Buncrana District Superintendent Kevin English said
18 members from Inishowen would be among the 45.
“It was something the colleagues wanted to do in
memory of Garda McLoughlin and Garda McCallion and
the charities were chosen in consultation with their
families,” said Supt. English. |
