THE Drift Inn will be
awash with late-twenty-somethings reminiscing about
the Millennium Bug at the end of this month when the
Scoil Mhuire class of 2000 is reunited for a special
night of nostalgia in Buncrana. Organiser Brigid
McDaid said the reunion is a great chance to catch
up with friends at home and abroad.
“Last year’s night was amazing by all accounts so we
are hoping for more of the same in 2010. By holding
the event at Christmas we hope that many past pupils
who live and work abroad will be home for the
holidays. It’s one of those nights that people
sometimes dread but always end up having an amazing
time!” she said.
A midwife at the National Maternity Hospital in
Dublin, Brigid said she decided to take on the role
of organiser because the year 2000 head girl,
traditionally charged with the job, currently
resides in Singapore.
“I saw a niche in the market so I decided to go for
it!” she joked.
Despite working and living in the capital, Brigid
said she still has a ‘big allegiance’ to Buncrana
and is back in Inishowen most weekends.
Brigid said the night is also open to past pupils
from Crana College: “I’m telling everyone to bring
their friends along; we won’t be that strict!” she
said.
The reunion gets underway at
8.30pm in the Drift Inn, Buncrana on Wednesday,
December 29. Popular DJ Benny B will be
spinning the tunes while a finger food buffet will
also be served. Admission is €10.
