THERE will be
disruption on the main road between Ballyliffin and
Carndonagh for several days next month as
construction gets underway on two bridges. The
bridges - between the town and Ballyliffin Golf Club
and at Rasheeny on the Carndonagh side of Rasheeny
School - are in poor condition and need replacement.
Donegal County Council recently advertised formal
notice of week-long road closures at the two sites
but have now elaborated on the extent of the
disruption.
"While the dates are for one full week, this is
simply to allow some flexibility in the programming
of the works," the local authority said in a
statement.
"The road will be closed for one day at each
location, two days in total, and the road will only
be blocked at the bridge sites and clearly signed,
short diversions will be in place to minimise
disruption to traffic." It is proposed to close the
road between Ballyliffin and Ballyliffin Golf Club
on Monday, October 4 and the road at Rasheeny on
Wednesday, October 6 or Thursday, October 7.
Diversions will be in place via Coolcross and
Tullynabrattily, with HGV traffic from Carndonagh
diverted via Drumfries. "Donegal County Council
would like to thank the public and business
community in Ballyliffin in advance for their
patience during these essential works," added the
statement. |
