Dunaff ditches dial-up 11.05.10

PEOPLE in Urris and Dunaff, Clonmany, can now ditch the dial-up and get access to the internet through the National Broadband Scheme.
Cllr Charlie McConalogue said the area had little or no internet availability until now.
“It will make a significant difference for those who wish to use internet in their daily lives or for work and study,” said Cllr McConalogue.
Broadband has become available wirelessly via a mast erected recently in the area by ‘3 Telecom’ as part of the National Broadband Scheme.

“Coverage should be very good due to the fact that homes in the area are on a relatively flat landscape,” added the Donegal deputy mayor.
He also reminded people in Malin and Malin Head that wireless internet under the National Broadband Sheme is also available to them. The Malin mast is sited on the RTE mast site and went live last October.
“I'm also continuing to work to help deliver internet to the Culdaff, Gleneely and Carrowmenagh area and I am hopeful that wireless internet can be secured in these areas during this year. I commend ‘3 Telecom’ for the very strong effort it is making to deliver this service as soon as possible. I know that it can’t some soon enough for many,” he added.
