A BUNCRANA woman is gearing up for the night of her
life in Dublin this Saturday.
Patricia McLaughlin, from Millfield Heights, will
take centre stage on television screens across the
peninsula as she bids to win up to €500,000 on the
popular RTE gameshow, Winning Streak.
Following the sad loss of her mother, Theresa
Doherty, just two weeks ago, Patricia is hoping for
better fortunes in the capital this weekend.
Amazingly, the 41 year-old mother-of-three is the
third member of her extended family to hit the
Winning Streak jackpot. Her sister-in-law Suzanne
McLaughlin qualified for the show before it became
televised while her husband’s late mother, Kitsy
McLaughlin, appeared in front of the RTE cameras in
1998.
Originally from Malin Head, Patricia bought her
lucky ticket in Wade McGinley’s shop on Buncrana’s
Main Street. |
“I have posted hundreds
of tickets for my father over the years without
success but this time I sent one for myself and it
was picked out. I didn’t actually believe it when my
dad rang me last Saturday night but when a man from
the National Lottery rang me on Monday morning I
knew it was true,” she said.
Keeping her feet firmly on the ground, Patricia said
she would be delighted to win €10,000 on the popular |

show, which is hosted
by Marty Whelan and Kathryn Thomas.
Accompanied by a band of local supporters, Patricia
will travel to Dublin early on Saturday morning,
where she will be roared on by her chief
cheerleaders, husband, Maurice, and children, Kerry,
Ciara and Sean.
Patricia will be filmed in Buncrana today ahead of
her big TV appearance. Tune in to RTE One on
Saturday night at 8.05pm to cheer her on. |
