David's 'explosive' WWII story
13.05.10
OUR exclusive story
last week about an Inishowen man's experience of
putting a WWII bomb up for sale on the internet
turned out to be 'explosive' - in the media sense of
the word.
The story of David McDaid from Glengad and the old
German missile he posted on DoneDeal.ie was carried
in a number of Irish tabloid newspapers.
There was also a scramble for interviews with David
from local and national radio and TV stations
including Newstalk and TV3. |
Meanwhile, the story
has been carried in the London Independent and
publications as far afield as the New Zealand
Herald. It has also been picked up by countless
online sources throughout the world.
Linda McGrory of InishowenNews.com who wrote the
original story, said she was amazed at the reaction.
"Clearly, David's experience captured the
imagination and the interest continues. I'm still
receiving calls from people trying to get an
interview with him."
Meanwhile, the 36-year old Glengad man, who declined
to take part in any of the |
|
follow-up interviews,
yesterday said he was happy the story had put the
record straight. But he said he was not interested
in making any further comment on the incident. |
