€114,680 for Action Inishowen 28.01.09

ACTION Inishowen is celebrating a €114,680 Government lifeline to allow them continue providing important services in the peninsula.
The €114,680 has been allocated by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs to assist resource centres in disadvantaged areas.
The other beneficiaries in the latest round of funding are Donegal Travellers Project who receive €112,200; Donegal Women’s Network who receive €118,400 and the Lifford Resource Centre who get €120,320.
Donegal Senator Cecilia Keaveney today welcomed the allocations: The funding...covers the costs of staff and overheads for local resource centres in disadvantaged areas countrywide. Today’s announcement demonstrates the Government's ongoing commitment to the targeting of resources to areas of greatest need," she said.
The funding for Action Inishowen will allow for the retention of two full-time workers and will allow the organisation to fund its projects for 2009.
Action Inishowen's target groups include one parent families, the long term unemployed, the elderly and preschools. Among the services carried out by the Carn-based group is the roof insulation of homes belonging to the elderly and other vulnerable persons.
