INISHOWEN'S top Garda
has assured a local senator he is doing all he can
to halt a spate of burglaries in the peninsula.
People living in the north Inishowen areas of Carn,
Culdaff and Malin are reportedly frightened at the
growing problem of burglaries and break-ins.
A young female InishowenNews.com reader from Carn
this week told us: "We are all frightened in our
homes".
Senator Cecilia Keaveney recently met with Supt.
Paul Glynn who told her that no resources would be
spared in fighting the problem.
"A spate of burglaries in Inishowen in recent months
has left people feeling vulnerable in their own
homes," said Senator Keaveney.
"Having people breaking and entering your home while
you sleep is a hugely disturbing phenomenon for
anyone to experience and there has been a high level
of such incidents in Inishowen in recent months.
"I have spoken with Superintendent Glynn and he has
assured me that this issue is taking top priority
for him as he takes up his new position.
"Superintendent Glynn has clearly stated that no
resources will be spared to have those involved in
the burglaries identified and face the courts."
Senator Keaveney urged anyone with information to
come forward and assist the Gardai in apprehending
the culprits.
"Resourcing for Inishowen is not at the core of
resolving this matter and more patrols will be put
in place.
"However I continue to press for the enhancement of
our personnel numbers and for the new purpose-built
station in Carndonagh to complement the almost
completed one in Buncrana.
"We all have a role to play in society and again, I
would ask people to come forward and support the
investigations that are already underway," added the
Moville-based senator. |
